Beyond the Valley

Haworth

A visit to Haworth is a must when holidaying in Hewenden – The Bronte Parsonage offers a wonderful insight into the lives of the extraordinary Bronte sisters. The cobbled main street, so evocative of a bygone era, is lined on both sides with apothecaries, antique shops, cafés and second hand bookshops.

Worth Valley Railway

Take a nostalgic trip on one of the steam trains that run regularly along the Worth Valley - a perfect way to get into the heart of the rugged Bronte countryside (without getting your feet muddy!).

Saltaire

Recently recognised as a "World Heritage Site", Saltaire is a perfect day trip destination. Salts Mill is a must - browse around the bookshop, visit the David Hockney gallery, do a spot of shopping in the very trendy and expensive "Home", and finish with lunch in Salts Diner – all under one roof!

The Dales

The lovely market town of Skipton, otherwise known as the "gateway to the Dales", is about a 20 minute drive from Hewenden. Well worth a visit in its own right, the castle, cobbled streets and canal trips make for a fun family day out. Moving out of Skipton, the great Yorkshire Dales beckon for wonderful walks and fabulous pub food.

Leeds

The cultural capital of the North - Leeds has everything you need for a great day (or night) out! Fabulous shops, cafés and restaurants, a vibrant and exciting nightlife and the brilliant Royal Armouries museum - quite literally something for everyone.

Harrogate

The Spa town of Harrogate has a long and wealthy history. Exclusive antique shops and designer boutiques add up to a lovely afternoon window shopping. The RHS gardens at nearby Harlow Carr are well worth a visit – especially since Bettys opened a rather wonderful tea-room on site!

York

York Minster, the Jorvik museum, the Shambles, the National Railway Museum – York is an amazing city in every respect – something for everyone – history, culture, superb shopping, wonderful architecture and some very indulgent eating establishments. Well worth the journey!
